Finding Resumes Using Google
There are thousands of passive candidates resumes accessible on Google.
In Recruiting Tip 6 we show you the steps you need to construct a basic search string:
- Isolate "resumes" in your search term.
inurl:searchterm - looks in the URL
intitle:searchterm - looks in page title
Insert common resume terms: resume, CV
(inurl:resume or intitle:resume)
- Choose key skills and terms
Use boolean search
Examples AND/OR: ("call center" and director) (marketing or "business development" or sales)
- Narrow by location
State ("New Jersey" or NJ or ", NJ")
City ("city name")
Area code ("732")
- Filter pages that won't return resumes
Use -job or -jobs or -requisition or -job posting
Example search string: (inurl:resume or intitle:resume) (sales or marketing or "business development") healthcare -job -jobs "NJ"
